Bonnie Wee Scotland
I’ve decided to take a break from HouseAHolic holidays in the third world today and head north to Scotland. I grew up in Tasmania, possibly the most ridiculously long way from Scotland imaginable while still staying on Earth, but my Mother (a Scot) took us there every couple of years for holidays.
All those early treks around run-down castles, poring over the floor plans and imagining who would have trodden those floors in the past is probably a serious contributor to the fact that I love looking at dilapidated buildings so much now.
It’s currently Summer in Scotland. And, let’s be honest, Summer would be the only time of year I can imagine it being possible to live in a Castle like this:

Aggpup (Balvenie Castle, near Dufftown)

eleda 1 (Eilean Donan castle near the Isle of Skye. )
Another Castle, only this one is a little littler. But still, not tiny:

Something like this might be a little easier to heat though:

When you tire of the whites and stone colours, you can always paint your cottage to match the sky:

Love the photos – looks a bit bleak, but we have snow on the mountain in Hobart today – so quite similar to home.
